Shape how we store, move, and protect data across products—performance, reliability, and recoverability for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, indexing strategies, partitioning, and migration plans in partnership with product engineering.
  • Own backup, restore, replication, and failover practices; validate RPO/RTO targets with operations.
  • Analyze slow queries and workload patterns; recommend schema and application-level improvements.
  • Support analytics and reporting use cases with governed views, ETL patterns, or data warehouse handoffs as needed.
  • Document standards for naming, retention, PII handling, and access—aligned to security and compliance expectations.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years hands-on with PostgreSQL (or comparable enterprise RDBMS) in production environments.
  • Deep SQL expertise including performance tuning, locking, and transaction isolation tradeoffs.
  • Experience with migration tooling, zero-downtime deploy patterns, and schema evolution at scale.
  • Understanding of encryption, auditing, role-based access, and least-privilege database users.
  • Strong collaboration skills with backend engineers and CloudOps/SRE peers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with columnar/warehouse systems (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) or dbt-style pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Django ORM internals and multi-tenant data patterns.
  • Scripting in Python for automation and data validation tasks.
